Dr. Malitz was born in Chicago and grew up in the Detroit area.
He graduated in the top 3% of his class with highest distinction
from one of the top ranked universities in the country, the
University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Anthropology-Zoology. He was one of only several
non-California residents accepted at the prestigious UCLA School of
Medicine where he graduated near the top of his class. He studied
Internal Medicine in preparation for his residency at the University
of Illinois Eye And Ear Infirmary in Chicago. He is board certified
and has been in private practice for over 15 years and is the
Medical Director of the Ohio Valley Eye Institute. He has performed
well over 5000 PRK and LASIK procedures and has performed more
Crystalens implants than 90% of the doctors in the world! He
received a distinguished award from Eyeonics (now Bausch and Lomb)
the maker of the Crystalens. He is married to a talented woman,
Michele, and has two lovely daughters, Natalie and Erica and a son,
Marc. He resides in Evansville, IN.

Dr. Eiferman limits
his practice to corneal and refractive surgery. He was one of the
Principal Investigators for the Taunton Excimer Laser and began
clinical trials of laser vision correction in 1989. He performed
over 600 refractive and therapeutic cases as part of the FDA studies.
Since the laser was approved by the FDA, he has performed over 2,500
cases.
Dr. Eiferman has extensive research experience with other lasers.
He was also the Principal Investigator for the Meditec Scanning
Excimer Laser and is currently working with a new solid state Infra-Red
laser.
Dr. Eiferman started college at age 16 and holds a bachelor’s
degree in psychology from Queens College, City University, City
University of New York. He began medical school at age 20, and graduated
from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in 1972. He did
an ophthalmology residency at the Milwaukee Eye Institute and then
a one year cornea/external disease fellowship at the prestigious
Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
He joined the faculty at the University of Louisville School of
Medicine in 1977, spent fifteen years on the full time faculty
and became Professor of Ophthalmology before age forty. He left
the University in 1992 to open a private office. He is currently
active in teaching and training other Ophthalmologists.
Dr. Eiferman has authored over 100 scientific publications and
ten book chapters. He has lectured extensively, both nationally
and abroad. He teaches a course on excimer laser surgery at the
American Academy of Ophthalmology and has instructed many ophthalmologists
nationwide in the use of the laser. He has been a cornea and external
disease fellowship director for over 10 years.
Dr. Julie Jochem, OD, is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She provides routine patient care, including glasses and contacts, and contributes to pre and post-op refractive surgery care.
